- From a local review: "Critics who say KISS is a heavy metal relic, a washed-up slice of rock 'n' roll history, should have been in L.C. Walker Arena Wednesday night. They would have had a hard time arguing with some 6,000 fans who showed up for the band's stop here on its Hot in the Shade Tour 1990. The audience may not have been the largest KISS has ever played for, but it certainly was enthusiastic. And loud. Concert-goers clapped, screamed and sang with lead-singer Paul Stanley throughout the show. Participation was heavy in older songs like 'Lick It Up,' but the appreciation the crowd showed for newer material off the recently released 'Hot in the Shade' album proved KISS doesn't need to rely on its past" (Grand Rapids Press, 6/14/90).
